Hello All, I was thinking about a possible “strategy†and was looking for your opinions. What if it was possible to get a domain with a keyword I want to rank for; let’s use “Blue-Widgets.com†as an example. Now let’s say I have gotten 30 links from random sites to “Blue-Widgets.com†and pretend this was enough to get me into the top 10 for the search term “Blue Widgetsâ€. Now that I’ve got a decent ranking and 30 sites linking to me with the product name as the anchor/keyword text, I now want to take advantage of the my company’s brand - which we will say is "BrandCo". Lets say we have BrandCo.com registered. Now that my site ‘Blue-Widgets.com’ is ranking decently – Can I use a 301 Re-direct for Blue-Widgets.com to hit BrandCo.com? Keeping my incoming keyword anchored links and top 10 ranking while taking advantage of my Brand? Instead of showing Blue-Widgets.com all the time? If so, how would I make this work? When a user visits my site either from an old ‘Blue-Widgets.com’ link or direct from my business card, I would want them to see ‘BrandCo.com’ only. Any Advice/Thoughts? – Thanks In Advance
30 sites link may help good. few articles and directory submission will help good too. do complete seo for that domain. keywords.meta tags, sitemaps . like you u did for your original site. I recommend, don't use redirect. write a good article and give links to your original site. if article is full of info then you have good conversion on ur traffic. leads or sales etc. or what ever your goal is.
It's a old technique in SEO but till your blue-widget.com is in rank your business site will get benefited but after it's goes down it's useless for you. Better you promote a new domain you just make a new page in your business domain just like BrandCo.com/blue-widget.htm and promote this page it will give you more benefit than booking a domain and redirecting on your another domain.
i agree with sajidmm, don't use redirection, just create a page or write a article and link to original sites.
