My PR7 homepage ranked #12 and have many links. An internal MS page ranked one place better i.e #11. I wish anyone'd help with the following issue: They have ONLY ONE link (from one of their PR10 pages.) No other link points to that PR6 page!!! My question is: Would it be effective to compete for this keyword? Some details seochat tool shows difficualty of 88% to enter to the first page. Number of searches according overture is 37. There are only 2 bids for this rare keyword: $0.30 and $0.16 Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks softgroups We have great content there. And we are an authority site. Is there something empiric, measurable, that could give us a better knowledge on this issue? Cheers
not really, but don't be scared by somebody who got 1 PR9/PR10 backlinks, because if you read the google patent, you will find out that the pagerank is divided... Having a backlink on a PR10 ... with 300 others on it, is almost useless It will probaly do much better having 100 small PR4-PR6 backlinks
Unfortunatelly, MS doesn't have any obl on that page. Nither do we. Which brings us back to the question: How many links should we get. Should it realy be around 100 of pr5, of a few are sufficient. Our Page Strength: Links pointing to full URL: 8579 Links pointing to domain: 13591 Position at Google for first four words of title tag on target URL: 1 Age of Domain: 100% Links from domains with .edu TLDs: 34 Links from domains with .gov TLDs: 2 Alexa 250,000 Domain name visibility 24800 Internal Link Percent 100%. Number of links according to Technorati 58 Number of search results for URL search at del.icio.us 6 Listings in DMOZ (ODP) 2 Links found in Wikipedia 1 Google Pagerank of full URL and Domain: 7 Domain: 7 Overall page strength: 6 MS have one PR10 link. but this is the ONLY link they get. No inbounds at all!! I need a rough estimation for number of anchored text we need for the keyword in question. Cheers
Given the information you have provided, why would you? Is there potential for a few high dollar monthly sales? If not, I'd just let it ride, maybe slip in a link every now and then to that page and let it build naturally.
It's something the execs require, reputation thing, you know. I'll refine the question: Knowing these keyword is not too effective, is there any chance to rank higher than MS for that keyword?
Sure then, target relevant pages and get the links. I'm guessing you know where to get links from if you have gotten them before. As to how many to overcome MS, who can really say but to guess. Really depends on the quality of the backlinks. The better, the less needed.
Go step by step 1) Find what is competitor's strength at nichewatch tool. 2) Analyze their links thru backlinkwatch too. Now you would have lot of data to proceed with quality inbound link building and sources where to get them from
