Most of them would recommend 2-5%. For me I don't really count the how may keywords I have in the article. Try to mix LSI keywords in the article. You can get LSI keywords by using google wonder wheel or related searches option in google.

It's Latent Semantic Indexing. It's the keywords that are related to your main keyword. Hope that clears it. :)

Keyword density is the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page compared to the total number of words on the page.

The general rule of thumb on keyword density is between 2 to 5%. That means that the keywords you're targeting shouldn't count for more than 5% of your page's content.

You can check it using Seoquake. You can add this plugin to your firefox browser.
    Here is the link :

    Hope this helps!:)

I used to think about 2% with LSI keywords or run the risk of keyword spamming because that's what I heard in a number of forums, but I now I'm beginning to believe the keyword percentages are higher.

Here's the stats from a page that ranked number one and was optimized for the keyword it was targeting:

    Body: 66 times out of 1841 words @ 7.2%
    H1/H2/H3: 23 times out of 197 words @ 23.4%

If you keep it at 2% you'll get a hard time having it show up in Google's search tool for the keyword you're optimizing it for. Go ahead and paste your URL into the Google search tool and see if the keyword you're optimizing it for shows up on top (set to relevancy by default).

keyword density is the no. of keyword appears against the total no. of words on the page.the percentage of keyword density is 2 to 3%, more than that percentage keyword could be considered as search spam

Keyword density is a combination of the keyword phrase in proportion with other words, appears on a Web page. Usually, Search engine crawlers limit the use of keyword density between 3 to 5%. And once this limit is exceeded, and then there is a fair chance that the search engine might deem the certain web page as spam.
