Keyword Density, What Does It Include?, Only text or also Meta? Alt? Title?

Most SEO expert will advice a 5% keyword density. But what do they take into account? When I scan a few of my competitors they have a 4% density for text content but when I include their Meta, Alt and Title, they have around 10% density. Would you advice to stick with a 4% for the full webpage or does the 4% only count for the text content?

    Thank you!

Well, I advice a 2% keyword density. 5% is too high.

In my opinion 2-3% keyword density is ok. While counting keyword density Meta, title and alt also included.

Everytime I hear a different story :). So 2-3% is ok. But is there a penalty for 5% density?

Key word density is On page SEO, but be careful i heard google is working bad on the high volume of repeated key worlds in one page /

Keyword density is a useless metric. Write compelling, unique copy for your visitors, not for search engines.

And to know what your visitors are actually searching for, use google insights and then produce original content which answer those queries.
