my suggestion is to stick to the 5% density, and make sure the content is unique!

As long as you don't repeat your keywords like a rediculous number of times you should be ok.

Seems like a waste of time to overanalize these metrics. I'd think the more important thing is building useful, unique content.

You know I think the best thing is just to write naturally, but be consistent. If it looks like you are saying one keyword too much, then you probably are. Try to use lots of ways to describe the same thing, it is better for SEO anyway because that is how you get long tail keywords...

I think 1-2% density is enough, google don't like overusing keywords.

Anybody have an explanation they can offer then why Google will still display some websites high in search engine rankings when all they have is a ridiculously long list of keywords at the bottom of the page? I often find this if I ever search for "Watch *popular movie* online free". I get results where the entire bottom of the page is just a block of keywords with complete disregard for the keyword density rule.

I use 1-2% density I don't want to reach 5 because it too much I think.

It is not as simple as using words repeatedly you need to know which keywords are relevant to your website and pages. Once you have a master list ensure that :

Match keyword tag with content. Ensure that the keyword meta tag has around 900 characters or 25 words.
Ensure that the keyword density in between 3-10% . And, avoid using the same word more than once in a sentence. Check keyword validators to determine the exact density percentage.
Try and maximize use in the top half of the page. Many search engine spiders do not go beyond 25-50%.
Be smart and spell your keywords with variations and also include plurals.

Keep your keyword density between 2% - 5%. Don't go for above 5%. Google will consider it as spamming.

Just like everybody else is saying around 5%. But I think the post that talks about "writing naturally" is more correct. Besides, one post or page or blog post with keywords in it is not going to change much now days. It takes the entire site working together to create relevancy. Make sure your meta tags are relevant to the keywords you are trying to rank for.

I definitely agree with previous comments. Density must be no higher than 5%, but not lower 2% to have its potential.

Yah always try to keep the density range under 5%. To check this in one click, you can download a firefox plugin SEO quake for firefox. From there you can check the exact keywords density of particular page of your site and even more information which helps in off page optimization.

yes it's 2%-5% i use that in writing articles for my site. I think this is also the recommended keyword
density after the Google Panda Update
