Hi all, What do you think about keyword density? Very important for SEO. But how many percent is good for Google and Yahoo 2 - 6% is good or 3 - 7% and this is small question i want to ask: the diffrent of "-" and "_" characters in links. What is the best for SE? Thanks all,
I think most SEO guides say that 1% to 5% is recommended density. Since this is primarily Google we are talking about, I am certain a lot of other variables are taken into consideration such as the age of the domain, title tag, alt tags, etc. As for the ones you are seeing with 20% density, it may be a niche site or an older domain, or domain registered for 10 years, that may be counteracting the effects of an overly high keyword density. As for "-" vs "_", the dash is supposed to combine keywords. So for example if you have someone searching for "NFL Football Jerseys", then you may want to create a link on your page that is titled, "nfl-football-jerseys.html". The underscore, I am not certain about. It may or may not have a use in SEO. Also I don't know if the dash is very effective or not.
I usually making my web page content search engine friendly as possible...I include the keywords within the content the natural way.. Between '-' and '_' both are now considered spaces/keyword separator
Are you sure about the "_" character? I thought the "-" was a keyword connector, and the "_" was just ignored.
No Google has recently made changes to see dash and underscore the same. No doubt spurred on to help their buddies Wikipedia out.
i use some websites to check keyword density: http://www.keyworddensity.com http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/keyword-density/ so what is better? their result not the same
Don't even worry about keyword density. Just pick 2 or 3 keywords you want to target per page, and use them in the copy naturally but as much as possible without thinking of density. Write for humans, not for search engines.
Yes, I know gyutae, but when you write content for humans, and the target keywords still not have good ranking in google, yahoo... So many factors in SEO, but currently temporary solution for my website is reduce keyword density
Write for humans with your keywords in mind. Also, It doesn't hurt to run your content thru a density checker tool. I just checked some of my copy and was shocked on how dense my target keyword was. Why was this the case? It was because there wasn't an easy way to describe the keyword without using it frequently. Also, it sounded fairly natural so it didn't set off flags in my head. I will always double check my content from now on.
