Hi, I have been ready a lot about keyword density over the last few days and everywhere you read the answers seem to vary greatly. Some say it should be between 2-5% others say as long as you keep it under 20% you'll be fine. I don't believe just under 20% is correct (but I may be wrong). I never use keyword density, I always write for the visitors and not the SE, and have always has success doing it this way, but I just happened to visit a site which had a density tool on it, so I though I'll just see what one of my pages is, for it's main keyword (just out of curiousity) and it said 12%, that is when I stated ready up on it. Also since then I have tried many different ones and the results vary greatly, for the same page I've had 5%, 7%, 8% and as I said above 12%, and stuff in between Please can someone advice, my page reads well and doesn't sound spammy, every place I have my main keyword reads like it should be there, but if the 2-5% is correct then I obviously don't want to get penalised (I am moving up the rankings at the moment) but I'm talking long term. Thanks for any advise Dee
Under 20% ARE YOU NUTS??? You are far closer with the 2-5% number and I have to tell you that that is a push sometimes. One of the tricks to use if you want to fly under the keyword spam radar is to learn how to write into and out of your keywords so that they don't appear so obvious in the vvery beginning or at the end of every sentence. I aim for 2% personally and I'm always able to get my articles to Page 1 of Google no problem. Kevin tabinteractive.net
Hi, thanks I agree that it is more important to right for the visitors, and this is the way I have always done it, but I was looking for a % that whilst it doesn't sound spammy maybe considered spammy ?? No I'm not nuts, and I wasn't the one that said just under 20%, I was quoting what I have read time and time again, and as I said I didn't agree with it. But I have one particualar site where the keyword density of the homepage is 8.12% but it is written for the visitors and not the SE's and it has had page one ranking for 3 years. So I don't agree that you have to stick to between 2-5% Anyone else got any opinions? Thanks Dee
Read this thread, KD's aren't used any more, those who think that KD's are important are behind the times. http:// forums.digitalpoint .com/showthread.php?t=833861&page=2
SEOs achieve their optimization keyword density for a set of key terms. Keyword density is important bcz SE use this info to categorize a site's theme, and to determine which terms the site is relevant to.
