Keyword density above 2%

I just wanted to know where this 2% value has come from int term of keyword density usage for Goog1e?

I have just visited a few sites and they have keywords in excess of 8% but still rank high (1st page) for semi competive keywords.

Why are they not penalised for being above the 2% density value for keywords?

    TY

I have long heard that keyword density must not be very high. I dont know the exact technical limit.

But you know the actual algorithm may see some more parameters before deciding on penalising a site. For example it may see the type of keywords, some relative considerations, etc.
The suspect site may be forwarded to the manual checkers of google for verifying after which it may be penalised. I dont think penalising is a truly automatic process. It definitely involves a manual review.

Because keyword density is not a falid SEO thing. The reason for this is because if you have an article with about 500 words, your keyword density is a lot higher than the same article with 2000 words. In that case more information will be found in the 2000 words big page. Is it fair then to give the 500 words big page a higher rank than the 2000 words big page, only because keyword density?

Just write your text and look whether your important keywords are in the text. In the title and first sentence and maybe also in the last paragraph. But for the rest.. Forget it, really!

SO even if you have high density in your articles, remember to keep it truly natural. Dont keep on writing the same lines again and again. And dont try to make a fool out of google.
Remeber that there is an option in google webmaster tools by which you can report a spam site to the google's manual checkers.. I hope this make your point clear. Hey u gangster, you can stay in touch with me by sending me private msg.

Oya I forgot to tell you that I have a page on my blog with a documentair from youtubr split up in around the 8 youtube movies on one page. Above every youtube movie I have the same title repeated with the important keywords and then after that the number of the part of the movie. For the rest there is not much text on it, but visitors like it and the page is ranked within the top 10 for a moderate to competitive search term. And it stays there very stable. So what I want to say is that the keyword density is in your opinion waay toooo high. But because it is done on a natural way and because I doesn't have it done for Google but for the visitor it doesn't matter that the density is so high. But besides that it helps ranking high. So think about that.

But don't spam with your words.

Ya the main thing is that you should keep it natural enough that the combined tests by the manual and automatic google tests dont think its made especially for the search engine. KEeping it natural is the thousand dollar answer...

keyword density is not a punishment reason. it's criteria for the serp.

if you apply it, you will get visitors.
if you dont apply it, you will not get visitors.

    but not a punishment

Sorry what is a criteria - you mean the 2%?

So you are saying if you have less than 2% you will not any visitor and if you have more than 2% then also will not get any visitors?

The ideal density of keywords for SEO purposes lies in between 2% to 8%. Excessive keyword density will mislead the search engine's system of keyword importance.

I generally use 4% - 5% keyword density for pages...which ranked well. One can increase the keyword density (Max upto 7.5%) depending on the content length (no. of words).

I think 2 to 5% is best. If you go over 8 % i would worry about it

Unless you're dealing with page titles, META data, headings, anchor text, title/image alt attributes and other such markup (like lists), then keyword density will be meaningless. Instead, make sure you write your content primarily for your users while still containing the keywords you want to rank well for and ensuring that they appear naturally in the page copy.
