Just curious if I have something set on Broad Match or Phrase match will the Keyword Conversion tool tell me the exact keyword that converted or will it just say there was 1 conversion from that broad keyword?

I'm thinking under search query report it will tell me that won't it?

it will just say there was 1 conversion from that broad keyword.

To be honest I think this is a feature that is lacking from Adwords. It would help advertisers a lot if Google told them exactly what long tail keywords people were clicking on. For one of my clients I was going through analytics and found that all the conversions were coming from a very obscure little niche that searched for specific long tail keywords. It allowed me to identify a better target market for the product, and adjust not just the Adwords account, but the website and business model as well. I would love if this sort of information could somehow be shown in Adwords.

If you go into the search query report I notice it lists the conversions columns along with all the triggered keywords. I'm not sure if it will track the conversions down to the tee, have you seen that?

Yep, it just shows how many unique queries a broad or phrase keyword triggered, but I can't find specifically what they are, and the conversion is shown next to the broad keyword.

Well it will show the keyword the it triggered and if it converted yet, but you have to keep in mind if that board / phrase keyword triggers more then one result it will just say X amount of other queries triggered, but what you can do to resolve that and get the actual conversion is to send a report to your e-amil every hour. Therefore you can look through them all and find the exact keywords that are being triggered speak it don't trigger more then 1 an hour.

You need a custom reporting tool, googles search query report is highly unreliable and they usually sum up the non obvious search queries into an other column.

The easiest and cheapest way is to use a traffic analysis tool such as open tracker and start expanding your campaigns to include all the search variations. Eventually you will start mapping exactly to all your keywords and conversions will become transparent.

Otherwise you can pay for a more advanced system which will extract the real search for term and also apply conversion to them within a report. But these tracking systems usually have a good monthly cost.
