ADWords is the only way I am aware of. Just start to set up a new campaign and see what they suggest.

The AdWords keyword tool is now open to anyone, not just AdWords customers.

Remember, though, to take the values you see with a grain of salt, because:

    • The bid values shown are the maximum bid values, which is not what the advertiser actually pays
    • You get an unknown percentage of the price the advertiser pays
    • Smart pricing may reduce the amount you get even further
    • The gap between bids can be quite dramatic
    • Bids fluctuate throughout the day
    • The values they show are for bids on Google's own search pages, which typically pay much more than the ads that are placed on AdSense sites (advertisers can bid separately for them)

I always tell my readers to treat these values as relative indicators of keyword value, not absolute indicators.

You can use the AdWords keyword tool to see what the maximum bid and then work your way down from there, but it's all very approximate and you don't get a complete list of ads that are in the inventory or anything, just approximate positions and the CPC you'd have to pay to get those positions.

There is no way to get details of what each particular bidder is offering to pay. Adwords operates different than Overture and the best you can hope for is a rough estimate of bid positions. The highest bidder may be ranked #5 with googles method as they factor in CTR. Many high paying keywords are not available to people running adsense as advertisers can choose to not have their run on publisher sites - or they offer to pay a much smaller amount for clicks via publisher sites.

Fine but the problem is that the bid on overture would not match to those goingon on Adsense. Both are different in many respects.

If you're "menu challenged" like me, you need to change the "Show Columns" pulldown to show "cost and as position estimates" in order to see the keyword bids.

try www.symbiotic.com enter a keyword and it will give you back it's value and your highest keywords alternatives ... we have the top keywords in the data base over $5 so far and will be adding another the lower valued ones in the next 6 weeks. The symbiotic Bid Value Query is still in bata testing so there are some gliches like if you enter a keywords under $5 there is a good chance it won't come up yet but you will find higher value related keywords.

A friend of mine put a list of AdWords keyword values he's been gathering up for free his website at http://42ideas.com. Take it for what it's worth. He shows you when each keyword's value was last updated.
