Keyword at the start of domain

If I was looking to target a keyphrase say "Card Magic" Would having a domain like "www.cardmagictips.com" be more beneficial to something like "www.awesomecardmagic.com"

In other words. Is having the keywords at the start better for SEO or worse?

I think it could help in generally just remembering a domain, but seo wise, it could help too, but im not entirely sure on that.

In my experience it can make a difference (the order). Ideally you would have a domain name that has the exact keyword phrase in the exact order that people are searching on.

Let's face it, if someone sees a domain name with an exact match to the keyword phrase they are searching, they are likely going to click it. Obviously english is read left to right, so it makes sense to make it easy for your visitors to find you this way.

This concept has worked well for me.

    Cheers

Type any keyword into Google or your favorite engine...my experience has been that the domain that has the keyword AS their domain name, always comes back within the first 5 listing or so.

    It definately seems to help.

I'd go with the EXACT version of your keyword if possible.
