Keyword as Domain Name...

    Hi...

I domain name is exactly my keyword (i only added "the" in the start of domain name). I started my website 1 month ago.

My website is indexed by google and i get visitors from google & msn search for some tail words with my keyword. But I can't see my website in google for the exact keyword. I looked upto 35th page. It was once on 23rd page but rather than moving up it looks like it has disappeared from google for that main keyword.

I dont know why this is happening. If google has black listed my website then why am I getting 1st page result for some irrelevant keywrods or less important keywords.

Also there are less than 6 lac results on google for my keyword and most of the sites after page 15 are not a direct competitors, these are mostly websites with small info about that keyword.
help me let me knowing what can be the reason...???

    Thanks

What's "6 lac results"? Do you have relevant content and linking? Is there high competition in your niche?(check google adwords keyword tool if you haven't) If it's a popular term and your site is a month old you won't see much results without some advertising.

Having the domain with the keywords is pretty good but not necessary enough to rank in #1 fast.

My advice: add much content to your site (all related to your keyword), add many internal links using your keyword. The alt of your images as well as the h1,h2,<b>, etc.

And get as much dofollow back links as possible with that same keyword.

Use, per example, your signature in this forum for that and also get from other important sintes.

Ater sometime (doing what i recommend) you will be raising better ranks, be sure of that.

Eklypse.. 6 lac results means that for that keyword there are only 6 lac results in google so not much competition...

    yenerich.. thanks for the suggestions..

I know about backlinks but what are the dofollow back links?

They're links that don't use the rel="nofollow" tag, dofollow will "leak pagerank" so you want to gain dofollow links from relevant sites. Google "dofollow list" and you'll find some nice potential backlinks
Maybe try some social bookmarking as well, good luck.

It doesn't mean that your site has been black listed. All it means is that your competitors are doing a great job.

If your site and the main keyword are exactly the same, then you will have to do little effort to bring the site on top for the main keyword. But you have added "the": and its a new site. Even if the domain name and main keyword are exactly the same, you will have to get some backlinks and do some SEO and wait, in order to bring your site on top.

    Hello,

It must be exact, keyword in the domain can help, but it will rank very well if only it has your keyword :)

    My 2 cents,

Having keyword in your domain name is a very good start but it is not the end of it.

If the keyword is highly competitive, you would need to work equally well to get it anywhere close to first page.

EveryOne.. Thanks alot for your input...

I know its not going to be easy & quick to get rank #1. But the thing which kills me is i can't find my site on google when searching for that keyword... 1 month is good enough time to move in top 10-20 pages of google..

BTW I used wordpress as CMS so that I dont have to worry alot about onsite SEO.

For OFfsite.. I am submiting every newly added page on digg, delicious, yahoo buzz etc..
Also submited my site in few directories...(link yet to be approved).

Who told you that 1 month was good enough to rank in the top 10 - 20 pages? Is this somewhere in the google webmaster guidelines? Or is it in the official google support forums?

I have a website (its using self hosted wordpress) with the exact keywords I want to rank well in, the site is 14 months old and rarely ranks on page 1 of google. Most of the time it floats around on pages 2 and 3.

Go to google and do a search for webmaster forum. The #1 and #2 results should be v7n and digital point. Neither site has webmaster or forum in the domain name.

Just because your site has a keyword in it does not guarantee ranking anywhere.

Your not going to put up a site, and in a few months beat out sites that have been online for years. That is not the way it works. Why would you think that you can bump older, well established sites out of the way in 1 month? Your site is going to need to be at least 1 year old before it ranks anywhere. And then do not expect really good rankings until your site is 2 and 3 years old.

You should have read my messages above. I dont have enough competition on google for this keyword. And it does not need to have 1 or 2 years old website to get page 1 or 2. One can get website in 1 or 2nd google page in 3 to 6 months.

With proper on site SEO and link building it don't take too long to get good results in google. My 2 other websites were on google 1st page with in 2 months as I didn't had much competition.
