Keyword ABSENT Directory Submissions?

How important is the anchor text in directory submissions?

Is the primary goal of directory submissions just to gain a powerful link or should the anchor text target my primary keywords?

My problem is that my domain ("AB.com") may be developing an unnatural link profile for the keyphrase "A B."

If I already have a lot of directory submissions using anchor text "A B," is it safe to continue this or should I mix it up and use other phrases that I don't intend on ranking for?

it's allways better to use anchor txt when you submit a link to somewhere.

I understand that the anchor text is important -- that's why I am confused about how to choose it. I want to rank for "A B" (domain is "AB.com") so I want to use "A B" as the anchor text in all the directory submissions, because it makes sense (it's my brand) and it is my primary key phrase.

But i'm worried that doing this for all the directories will create an unnatural link profile.

1. Would I be better off forgetting about my primary keywords and just use "AB.com" as the anchor text?

2. Or should I use a variety of phrases that relate to my site content but not my brand?

3. Or is targetting "A B" okay because my domain is "AB.com"?
