keyphrase (real estate + france + mediterranean)

    Hi guys/girls,

    I have been researching the best keywords/keyphrases for a new project
    www.home-hunts.com - which is a flash site, so there is lots of work to do for SEO.

    I have been using wordtracker and it has come up with the keyphrase below, telling me there is nothing competing.


    1, 400.000 (KEI), 20 (count), 8 (24hrs), 0 (competing), real estate + france + mediterranean (keyphrase)

    Obviously great KEI, but are the plus signs confusing wortracker, or just myself?

    There's no one competing cause the search term is hardly searched :) Try and target higher search count terms, such as "france real estate" or even better, a specific france region.

    however, if i put that into a google search; 1,800,000 competing threads come up; that's what i don't understand.

    also..with a very competitive industry (like real estate) might it not be better using uncompetitive (though unpopular) keywords so you can be there to grab a small amount of customers rather than not being there and grabbing none

    maximin rather than minimax

    am i making sense?

    Number of results is not an indicator of competitiveness overall.
    1,800,000 is the number of pages with a mention or linked to (generally)

    Targeting the "long tail": Property in Marsaille, Lyon, Dijon, Normandy, Deauville" etc could be better for you than targetting "property in france"

    Also, targetting, holiday homes, wine regions, costal locations etc etc
