    http://www.abilogic.com/seo/

    This will show you the words and phrases the page is best opimized for -- you decide if that's what you were after or not.

    But if you're after the phrase "dog forum", you want those words appearing in that order a couple of times or so.

    It's also great directory, by the way: http://www.abilogic.com -- free or paid listings, fast updates.

    Nice resource minstrel! Web-rover, make sure the exact phrase "dog forum" is in their a couple times, not just those two words scattered seperately around the site.

    I assume you're talking about the home page at

    http://www.web-rover.com/forum/index.php?sid=20f832d45fd47a1c4f1535d03440bf00
    Code (markup):
    See that session ID stuff up there? That's the first thing that's got to go -- I'm a guest when I see that, not a member. SE spiders are also guests. Yiou need to remove session IDs for guests -- use Craven de Kere's SEO mod at http://www.Able2Know.com -- this will get rid of the session IDs as well as optimizing page titles and a couple of other things.

    You only need part 1 and part 2 of the optimization -- all that mod rewrite stuff is overkill.

    Then you need to work on this:

    First, that is all anchor text for one giant link... change that.

    Second, before all that stuff (which could easily be shortened... a LOT... by just making it into an Admin post and providing a link to it), write a description of the forum where you highlight the most important search terms -- right there at the top of the page.

    Then go to http://www.theforumzone.com and register there as a member and start asking questions about promotion and optimization.

    I just came across this from a Coop link: http://www.photographycorner.com/

    Ignore the fact that it should be laid out for 800 x 600 :eek:

    Have a look at how the designer has worked in keywords and links with anchor text on the page. It may be a little over done there but it will give you an idea of how to make your forum more SE friendly.

    in the craven rewrite is this all i'll need to remove sessions? Or, are there other files that need editing as well?

    -----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
    #

    includes/sessions.php

    #
    #-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
    #

    $SID = 'sid=' . $session_id;

    #
    #-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
    #

    if ( $userdata['session_user_id'] != ANONYMOUS ){
    $SID = 'sid=' . $session_id;
    } else {
    $SID = '';

    Apparently the MOD exceeds the allowed length for a post so see attached text file -- this contains all the required changes for SEO.

    Oh, I see... in that case, yes, I'm pretty sure it's just that one file:

    #
    #-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
    #

    includes/sessions.php

    #
    #-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
    #

    $SID = 'sid=' . $session_id;

    #
    #-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
    #

    if ( $userdata['session_user_id'] != ANONYMOUS ){
       $SID = 'sid=' . $session_id;
    } else {
       $SID = '';
    }

    Code (markup):
    You can try it and check it yourself -- just log into the forum as a Guest -- if the session IDs are gone for you, they're gone for spiders too.

    Once you have it working, or even before, edit your forum signature here to remove the session ID at the end.
