Keeping up with the competition

Okay, I have been in online business for a while and I see competitors using online instant messenging as a support service. I would like to do the same but I can't do it here from work due to blocked ports. With that said, I know that phones out there allow for unlimited internet access and keeping me online all the time with the capability of using MSN. I've lost clients to others for this reason alone of not being able to use the live chat.

What is a good inexpensive phone and plan in the US that would work out for me? I took a peek at the tilt, but it looks like it would be a little bit out of my budget.

Why don't you setup a cell phone for your business? I believe the sidekick + iphone has free internet.

That is what I am asking about, i just don't know what cell phone has the internet capability. I don't really need anything real fancy, i like the blackberry looking ones because I may want to surf the net on it, but outside of that I don't needm uch else on it. I don't care about a GPS or anything like that.

You would need to check both the terms of the contracts as here in the UK whilst they offer free "unlimited" internet they all exclude the use of both VOiP and IM software from the useage (it works but is breach of contract) and secondly it eats the battery like no ones business.

Whilst I was working at the same time as running my business I found the best solution was a free VOiP telelphone number which I could redirect to where ever I wanted instantly online and then a telephone answering service for when I was unable to take calls as clients leave some messages but prospective clients dont on voicemail. So, when at work unable to take calls it went to the answering service who had a short script/ FAQ to answer basic questions or would email a message to me to tell me to call the customer back (normal excuse that the team was in a meeting etc), when I was at home the calls went there and when out and about or at work and able to take calls the number diverted to my personal mobile.
