Keeping someone from stealing your site idea?

I am confused about the legal aspects of you telling someone your website idea. Say you hire someone to design and code your website. Is it normal to use some sort of Non-Disclosure Agreement? Would it be worth doing all that for your website?

You could have someone sign a non-disclosure agreement but if they are from a different country then it is pretty much worthless. Your best bet is to work with someone reputable.

Once you put the site out people can take your idea and copy/compete with you anyway, so it is really this one person who you just don't want to steal your idea. Work with someone you trust.

You really cannot copy protect, patent or trademark and idea. It is illegal for someone to copy your graphics, web copy etc... but the "idea" is typically fair game.

You need an NDA AND a NCC (Non Compete Clause)

Thanks for the responses, looks like I won't bother with it since browntown made a good point how the idea will be public when the site is published anyways
