Keeping PR while using 301 redirect

    Hi folks,

    I have my domain which is a vBulletin forum. I have the forums at /forums and I have vBadvanced CMPS at /index.php.

    Now, the main index page is PR0 but the /forums/index.php page doesn't even have a PR. When I've been gathering backlinks, I've been putting the domain only so that's why the PR is higher for the index page.

    I've now renamed the CMPS page to portal.php and created a 301 redirect from /index.php to /forums/index.php.

    My question is...will I loose the PR for the index page now that the SE can't see it? I thought the PR would be transferred to the redirect but the PR bar in my google toolbar stays grey and doesn't go white like it does for PR0.

    I hope you can understand this lol.

    The 301 redirect will take some time to pass on all the SEO weight & Pagerank value, you "should" see results during the next visual Pagerank update.
