A victim of Katrina has sued the US government for $3 Quadrillion. $1 quadrillion dwarfs the U.S. gross domestic product which is $13.2 trillion for 2007. I thought a billjillion was a lot of money. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has received 489,000 total claims and 247 are for $1 billion or more. So here you have it. When natural disaster or terrorist attack occurs, the Federal Government is supposed to pick up the tab and the US is responsible. How much did the Federal government pay out after 9-11? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080109/ap_on_re_us/katrina_flood_lawsuits
Just think of the math to process 489,000 total claims. The Attorneys are the ones using the system to enrich themselves. The US Government has spent over 100 billion on Hurricane relief and now it's being sued. What do you expect when you live 18 ft under seal level on a Hurricane cost. It's time to stop wasting money on leviees and start building on dry land. I don't even know why they are trying to rebuild in the lower 9th ward. That place is a disaster waiting to happen again.
Hate to say it but paying everyone off or whatever you want to call it from 9/11 opened up the doors to an extent. How do you determine a lift lost on 9/11 is worth more than a life lost any other time?
I can picture Sec. of Treasury Paulson on the phone with Ben Bernanke, FED Chairman. "Fire up those printing presses Ben!" "How much are we printing now Henry?" "A couple quadrillion, give or take a few trillion."
How many zero's is a quadrillion? 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 <- 1 Quadrillion ? Yep, he's hungry for money.
This has to be a tough one for RP supporters. On the one hand, RP wants to dismantle Homeland Security and other government agencies, that would deal with disaster relief, so that when a disaster hits, "tough luck." On the other hand, it's popular and fashionable to attack the government for NOT doing something they believe they should have, but if they had there choice, wouldn't exist in the first place. A truly multidimensional observation into cognitive dissonance at it's finest. As to the actual article though, $1 quadrillion! LMAO!
Roughly 1,100 prison inmates across the Gulf Coast apparently collected more than $10 million in rental and disaster-relief assistance. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/27/washington/27katrina.html
America is broke buddy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-16u9x3tfE It's time for you old fogies to wake up, and maybe take some accountability for your lifetimes of squandered votes. You want a department of this, and a department of that? You want entitlements, social security and medicare? Mike Huckabee wants to give students "Weapons of Mass Instruction"? You want 700 bases in 130 countries, and wars on multiple fronts? Just f**king wake up. The dance is over, and young people don't want to be slaves and raise their children to be slaves to pay for your excesses. We're BROKE. Once the Chinese open up their currency to the world market, it's GAME OVER. No amount of counterfeiting (printing new money) is going to bail us out of this one. You love to ride Ron Paul, but he's the only candidate out there, trying to warn people, and SAVE AMERICA.
Keep in mind most of these idiots were living off the fed already, so it comes as no surprise they would be demanding more entitlements..
For those that do not understand... In an RP Supporters World, one can have their Cake and Eat it too...
Not to mention the inmates 1,100 inmates that received 10 million. The goverment gives them a jail cell and three squares a day and a 10 million handout.
Actually, it's more like, stop eating our cake, and we'll bake our own thank you very much. Watch this, and then come back with the smug attitude. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-16u9x3tfE .
God, will the madness here never end???? Not again... Imagine if NO,LA would actually have spent the money we (YES WE from the other 49 States....) gave them over a more than 40 year period on the levies.. So instead of spending that 1 quadwhatever to fix the problem we are going to give it back to the very source of the problem? No, it's more like, it's our cake, and you can't have any, but if you take it by force, we will tuck tail and run and let you have it... We can always make more cake... We will keep giving it away, or have it taken away again and again, but as long as we are eating it and having it... so what. Pot, meet kettle.. What RP supporters do not realize is that cutting taxes, raising taxes, or cutting spending or all three will not fix our spending problems.. Our budget is driven entirely by mandatory spending. Mandatory spending right now takes up a larger portion of the federal budget than any other form of spending combined. The big threes.. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid... Both Discretionary Spending and Net Interest can be controlled to an extent, and are not rising at a rate higher than our total revenues generated by taxes.. However, Mandatory Spending is rising faster than revenues and there is no real way to curb that without a complete overhaul... You can cut the military, you can cut NASA, you can cut homeland security, the administrative agencies, transportation, foreign affairs, and even pay down the debt but it will not make a dent in our total mandatory spending. My suggestion, visit the US Department of the Treasury website and look at the 2007 numbers.. They are out now.. It's pretty easy to see the trends in mandatory spending and how they eat everything we give... Higher taxes are not going to solve the issue with those big three I mentioned.. Out of all the government waste, the war, nothing compares to the total drain on society like our mandatory spending, earmarks and entitlements... You confuse smug for logic, reason and reality...
No, you're smug. You obviously did not watch the video. It's a shame, because the GAO is the department you should be following, not the Treasury.
^ Smug and arrogant too... I think I can safely ad disrespect to the litmus test required to be a RP supporter... Imagine if all that negative energy, whining, whimpering and crying were used for something positive... You guys might actually make an impact... On what, I don't know.
