I have tried quite a few antivirus programs in the last years. Among the free ones, I liked Antivir more than Avast and the others. However, I believe Kaspersky is still a notch above them all, not as slow as many users claim. If your PC has at least 3GB of memory, you won't even notice it.

    Hi All

Check out this FREE AV / Rootkit / Malware tool from Kasperksy.

Excellent when you cannot get your AV or an online scanner to run and even uninstalls itself after use.

Kasperksy Anti Viral Toolkit Pro (AVP)

I have included it as part of my Virus / Malware guide in my signature.

A must have tool in the fight against malware.

    Regards

kaspersky is the best a/v, but one problem as of right now is that there's no 64-bit version, so i'm stuck with avg free for now.
avg seems to not slow down my startup as much though. but then again i bought a new pc, so maybe that's why it's faster...

test both. I read so many threads like this. This is leading to nowhere. Stick with what you like. I tested most AVs and I have AVG "paid version" now

kaspersky would be the best out of those two. symantec products really slow down your comp.
i prefer to use AVG though.

Even I would give my vote to kaspersky, due to its more efficiency in less resources. Norton makes a system very slow and irritate everyone.
