I read somewhere they need government money to build the nuke plants .They can’t build them without massive subsides and the plants take like 20 years to build My uncle actually runs a nuke, plant have to remember to ask him next time I see him
Actually, we can't build nuke plants BECAUSE of government. The government is not giving out those building permits. Every business like subsidies, but nuclear power plants don't need subsidies. And no, a nuclear power plant would not take 20 years to build, even with bureaucratic interference. For heavens sake man -- even the French have nuclear power. We're becoming friggin' luddites.
It's more like $2500/mo. Prove it.. Where's your source? That "hole" you are referring to is a natural occurrence. It opens and closes at regular intervals. It's the earths way have letting off some steam so to speak. The hole in the ozone layer does NOT cause global warming. http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/04/ozone-hole-leaks-and-other-tales/
I think you are confusing the amount of time since the building of the last nuclear plant with the time it takes to build one; which is certainly not 20 years!
Crap, I keep forgetting.. Far be it from me to put undue pressure on the less intellectually inclined.
my bad 6.5 years to build, at $2.6 billion http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/23/AR2005072300752.html
That's what entrepreneurship is all about. You invest today for future returns. If I really believed that the government would get out of the way and let nuclear power plants succeed, I would invest today -- and so would any other intelligent investor. Hell, the major oil companies would invest just as a hedge. They know that their future is limited, this is the perfect investment for them. Capital is never a problem if there is a reasonable promise of return.
It's a hard concept for Liberals to understand. "It takes money too make money" is more than a cliche'. They'd rather take money from those that make it, and give it to those that don't.
