There's a big open space between your header and your main content. Also, your black text on a gray background is very hard to see. The text in your header area might be considered keyword stuffing by some search engines. Your Adsense ads stand out a little too much, because they have a white background and are easy to see, while everything else is hard to see.

I think you should consider re-doing this entire design. You've got too many open spaces within the content area, which tends to make everything look very messy. For instance, the Chitika banner has a huge space below it before the content starts. Since you don't use any borders between the different parts of your page (header, main content area, right navigation bar), everything looks like it's just sort of floating there together with no real organization.

I quite like the layout, but I think the header could be improved. The white on the black and blue background is not all that interesting. Some brighter colours might brigten up the place.

As for the text I agree with davewashere. Dark grey text on light grey background may not be the way to go. I don't have an issue with the background, but think it might be an idea to darken the content font.
