Why are we called 'webMASTERS'? The name just confuses me, are we masters of the web? Sounds like it originated from Pokemon. My post may sound stupid, but has this ever come across your mind? Webmasters. Why aren't we called...let's say...web managers? That seems like it would suit the context better doesn't it? Post your thoughts...
I think it got that name because a "webmaster" is someone who is the head of a website or has the last say about it. It's just web with master added on to the end of it. Master meaning a supreme power or somebody who is in charge.
Good point. I guess that's just how things turned out. Webmasters sounds cooler than sitemaster anyways.
We don't "manage" the web either though. IMO, we're called "webmasters" because we are masters of specific websites.
i would love it to be .com masters .. one kid calls me .com guy ! , not so happy with term master seems like head master in college j/k
