We use Microsoft Office 2007. I am happy about it. On the other hand, I use Google docs at my house

absolutely yes. '.xlsx' extension opens in MS excel 2007 but not in MS excel 2003 and previous versions. MS excel 2003 only supports '.xls' extension.

@OP, I use MS office 2007. I am very much satisfied with the features and UI.

    here you go: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=1cd6acf9-ce06-4e1c-8dcf-f33f669dbc3a

I actually have MS office 2007 installed in my system . If you only want to open .xlsx file then the link which is given above is enough for your usage :)

EDIT: I just noticed that you can not EDIT the data present in the document. This is just for vieving purpose. I guess you should download whole MS OFFICE 2007 to avoid any hassle. Google for it :)
