Songs are the most important part of the movie from decades in India. Indians can’t imagine romantic movies without songs.

Well, there are also few movies without songs and got box office success too. I think “Black” is the most successful example of the movie without songs.

    Oh, I see.
Nice information. I didn't see "Black" yet. What is the movie genre? Sounds like action movie for me by it's tittle.

Yeah, songs are an integral part of Indian films. Few art films are made without songs but they generally get critical acclaim but no public.

Also Black was a very good film but it was a flop not a hit by any means.

It is a misconception that songs make a film a hit. All the films become hit because of the scripts. Songs act as catalysts. They make a good movie a hit. But if the film is crap then the songs don't do much. It still depends on script.

Only movie which became a hit due to song I remember was Kaho NAa Pyar hai.

In India the hit formula is (Star Cast+Good script with happy ending)= Hit + Great Music = Block Buster

Flop formula= Anything + Script with tragic ending

If the ending is not happy then the film is gone.

    Star cast+Crap script= Flop. Example= Tashan
No Star Cast+ Great Script= Semi Hit Example= Bheja Fry
Great Script+Happy ending+SRK= Blokbuster Example= DDLJ (12 years and still running in Aus) , KKHH, K3G, Don, Om Shanti Om
Great Script+SRK= Hit Example= Chak De India

It's not an action movie. It's movie about a blind and deaf woman. She is in search of her lost teacher. he finds him after 20 long years, near her home with his memory completely gone that he cannot even recognize her. It's a movie with full of emotions.

Nowadays there are many movies made without songs most of Ram Gopal Verma and they do work good too.. so that does not make much difference I think

Yes you are right. This is Bollywood movie formula which is running for many years now. We can add Aamir Khan's name with SRK.:D

Black is technically a good movie with good story and it is one of the few good films made in India which carry story for international viewers.
