That will happen if you give it time. The occupation forced a change of style not influencing their new constitution and prepared the infrastructure of fair play. What and how they handle it us not up to the occupation or of it. The rest is guessing and believe.
Gtech, it shifted from freedoms to seeing the entire picture and possible outcomes,,,it had nothing to do with 'freedom'.... Ohwell have fun people, I might be done for the night getting tired...
Alabama 1901, Preamble. We the people of the State of Alabama, invoking the favor and guidance of Almighty God, do ordain and establish the following Constitution There's 49 more where that one came from: http://www.treeofthegoldenlight.com/nesara/how_could_50-states.htm .
Probably shouldn't leave this one out: Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law: http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/charter/
Have you ever been in middle east? The population in most of these countries are very young and very interested in politics, democracy and personal freedoms. Unfortunately with the type of governments in power in these countries (many supported by USA), the young intellectuals who admire the western ideas of freedom will end up in prison or with a bullet in their head. While the political structure is very corrupt (the new Iraq's president is a former oil smuggler and employee of Iranian secret service), there is a genuine Democratic desires among the people that can overcome the corrupt political structure if a real free election is offered to them.
2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms: a) freedom of conscience and religion; b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication; It is called separation of state and religion.
SEPARATING CHURCH AND STATE Freedom of Religion Early in their history, Americans rejected the concept of the established or government-favored religion that had dominated -- and divided -- so many European countries. Separation of church and state was ordained by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which provides in part that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...." http://usinfo.state.gov/usa/infousa/facts/factover/ch8.htm Gtech I understand your opposition since in your opinion Constitution is just a worthless piece of old paper.
Wasn't the point. Our state's and country's constitution references God, as does the one for the country you live in. I don't know about the constitution of the country you currently reside in, but the words "separation of church and state" or "separation of state and religion" do not exist in ours.
The new Constitution in Iraq does not references God, it wants laws according to Islam religion. Are you really that stupid that you don't understand the difference or do you think that we are so stupid that we will be fooled by your nonsense? Look at the post above yours "SEPARATING CHURCH AND STATE", the text is from U.S. government web site: state.gov Separation of church and state was ordained by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. http://usinfo.state.gov/usa/infousa/facts/factover/ch8.htm It looks like not only you don't know about Constitution in Canada, you don't know the Constitution in USA either.
Its their God I think Would you prefer Santa Papa instead? If you ask me both are of the same origin.
Arnie Are you off your medication again? The question is not about the name of God. They can state that they believe in God or Islam in their Constitution and that is fine but it is quite another matter if a country decides to have religious laws instead of civil laws.
Who is "we?" Even though I don't agree with their constitution being based on islam, it is their right to vote such, if that is what they want. It would appear you are for "freedom" to choose, only when it fits your own views. You are against any constitution that refernces religion, but you still live in a country that does. Move! Doesn't matter if the words exist on a government website, a Chinese website, or any other website. The words "separation of church and state" or "separation of state and religion" do not appear in our (not your) constitution. Here, I'll even help you out: http://www.archives.gov/national-archives-experience/charters/constitution.html Let me know when you find it. Good luck!
Be very careful when discussing the topic of separation of church and state with an American. They haven't been very successful with that down there. The religious right has such a strangle hold on the country via the government, and the situation has been getting worse for a long time. The freedom of speech that is "guaranteed" to them in their (not our - salute to you, GTech) constitution is already gone. They don't have it anymore.
Obviously you are too stupid to understand the difference between referencing God in Constitution and having a Constitution based on religious law. Thank you for answering my question since I was not sure if you are stupid or trying to be smart. I ACCEPT what ever they chose for their Constitution, when there is a FREE and DEMOCRATIC election in Iraq.
Now we know why you HATE the USA. You must of read the older history books and how the USA came into existence.
