Can anyone tell me in non-technical language what a squidoo lens is? I've read articles about it several times but still can't figure it out
Squidoo is web 2.0 portl/site wher you can create a profile for yourself and make lenses/pages about a particular topic you are interested in. Since Squidoo has got a good link popularity and Joel Comm is being paid by Seth Godin to advertise it (I assume), all wannabe SEO feels that any page created in Squidoo will outrank other pages in Search Engines.
They also share revenue with you so supposebly its possible to make money. There seems to be alot of peopel around here praising it, I plan on letting everyone know if it benefits me in any way.
So is it just like a blog? Is a squidoo lens more difficult to create? How and where can I create one then?
No really a blog, you make a page on the topic you are interested in and thats it. Sure you can make changes, every day if you want, but it is not meant to be a blog. Just try it, you will see. Its easy. BTW, so I asume building lenses and putting in links to my own site is good SEO
Yep, by creating lens you can be also able to add your RSS Feed as static HTML Links and link anywhere with anchor text this is big plus.
It is not like a blog. In Squidoo, you create content around a theme. It is very easy to do and you can keep changing it. But be careful as in many cases, the Squidoo page will outrank the actual site in SE rankings.
when u join and add in amazon standard are u an auto affiliate? with amazon? or is squidoo affiliate with amazon and they contribute to you?

For example one of the modules is eBay that lists auctions based on your topic and if someone buys through your site you will earn commision. Another cool feature of squidoo lens is that google loves squidoo. That's the problem with assumptions. They are usually wrong. I wish Seth was paying me, but he has never contacted me to promote Squidoo. There are services that let you sign up for a free blog or even a free website. What squidoo does it let's you create separate pages other than creating a whole website. And the interesting thing here that you can make money with those pages by referring people to web stores like amazon.. that's the idea behind squidoo
This is a Social Page Creation site like Hubpages. The Social pages is known as Lens and divert massive traffic to ur site.
I cannot agree that Squidoo lenses generate a lot of traffic to your site, but it can generate lots of traffic to itself
