Just Updated Title, How Long?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by DollaradeConner, Nov 27, 2007.

I've just updated the title on my main page and other various things throughout my other pages and I was wondering how long will it take until Google will look at this and update it in the SERPs? Will it be months or just the next time they crawl my page?

    Thanks!

I think it will be the next time they crawl your site!

t depends on how often your site gets crawled, it could be anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of weeks.

...The cached version of your site is usually updated the next time your site is crawled.

Ok, thanks for all your replies everyone. I'm actually trying to get a front page listing on Google for a few keywords and have slightly optimized my site and just submitted a sitemap to them. I'm hoping that when they approve the sitemap, they will crawl my site again and their index will be updated.

I know a couple of you who replied have been very successful with SEO, and I'm thinking about starting a thread dedicated to this, but how difficult do you think it would be to achieve a front page listing for a phrase with ~ 4.1 million results?

I'm a complete newbie to SEO, and have only done the basic stuff to my site that I've read online, but from what I understand this should be an achievable goal, it will just take work.

If you'll work hard and put in the effort, you'll achieve success. Fortunately, seo is still a relatively new trade, so beating the competition if you stick at it is high likely. And I don't know if it's because people are scared of it or don't recognize its potential, but the lack of competition relative to other advertising mediums is unbelievable.

    Good luck, Beeker!

Thanks maddawg, that's exactly why I want to get my site ranked high. I've been trying to get traffic through various free methods with a little success, but they're not targeted. If I could get on the front page of Google, that's loads of targeted traffic for free. To me it just seems like it's the best route to go at this point.

depends on when or how often your site is crawled. anyway, doing that move can cause some of your ranked keywords to fall...

It won't effect asap , you should have seen domain parked sites with the content changed and still ranking no:1 for their old keywords for some time.
Things does not happen that fast on google , but your cached version will be changed up to your crawl rate.

It depends how frequently your site is cached regularly.if it is cached regualy, then it takes only a week or 10 days.when google crawls your page,it updates the data in google database automatically.

Submit your site to Google Webmaster Central.

There you will get stats on when and how often Google crawl your site and a lot more valuable info.

In my experience, your changes are gonna come into effect pretty quick.

yep & as you go on optimizing and updating changes, put the site in your signature of forum sites like DP forum.

sites like DP forum get crawled multiple times in single day and that way the crawlers can find link to your site. Consequently this helps in getting the changes you make get indexed quicker.
