^^I agree with Carlito. One of my sites did the same thing. went from 5 -> 75. Then after about two weeks, came back higher and into the #2 slot.
I wasn't doing anything to trick the search engine. Just tried to optimize it even better while playing by the rules. I am not on the top positions anymore for the keywords that I was targetting but my site is still getting a few visitors yeah I was pushed at 400+ position for one of my main keywords now, I am on 95. Worthless yea but still, it gives me a bit of a hope
I hadn't heard this. Do you remember where you read that? Here on DP? Thanks. Ok ... I found the source. Thanks anyway.
Will be interesting how spamming msn will become popular as soon as windows vista drops. I think they will incorporate such a time tracking tool and many more tools to track the browsing behaviour in vista to raise their serp quality.
My MSN tip - MSN seems to love titles. I have ranked well for phrases due only to good titles in MSN. Don't ignore other factors, but IMO MSN loves titles.
MSN loves a lot of things URL and the Meta Description tag also matters IMHO. I believe that after Windows Vista is launched, MSN will replace Yahoo and will snatch the second position right out of Yahoo's grip. The new OS should be highly integerated with MSN Search and people will end up using MSN search a whole lot more than before. Tough times for Yahoo. Google is safe (for now)
If the new IE has the ability to be customized like Firefox I guess a Google Search Box would replace MSN really quick for most people. I'm really curious if MSN stickts to their way of limiting users and forcing them to use their applications. That's a pretty counter productive strategy in my opinion.
MSN, Y! and G all utilize surfer clicks and site stickiness to aid in ranking webpages. That's why for our clients at least... we utilize a very specific methodology to almost triple the pageviews of the surfer. If your sites not sticky enough (according to the data obtained by the various toolbars) don't expect your rankings to maintain their previous levels. Why do you think they've invented these toolbars? For completely altruistic reasons? The stats obtained by the SE's is kinda like a woman in a bikini... what they show is nice... what they don't reveal is essential.
I believe that Microsoft is going to stick to the limitation thingy. Monopoly is their game and they are good at it! At least so far...
