Out of thousands of clicks I have more than website hitting constant $39-$40 ecpm, just so you know.

My overall ecpm, from hundreds of thousands of clicks is well over $8, which means 3-4 times more than your math shows. ;)

i think the problem is getting those high amounts of visitors. sure i have a few niches that have great earnings per click, but they are so competetive (im guessing it would be the same for a forum) that getting that kind of traffic is very difficult

Your calculations are off, for the predominant reason that your assuming all of us have a $2-$3 eCPM. My eCPM has been at $25+ for the last 4-5 months. This is my OVERALL eCPM, some of my individual sites have a much higher value. That's what happens when you drive targetted organic traffic to your sites.

Not to mention the fact that the OP is interchanging Visitors and Impressions. eCPM is not dealing with VISITORS it is IMPRESSIONS

First off it is rather difficult to find data on these site and yes I've used page views not unique visitors.

Oh yea and nearly 100% of my traffic comes from google search, how much more organic can you get?

Yes, there are always exceptions to the rule but the simple fact is that the real money is made by volume. Honestly, how many of these very high niches (with ecpm of 20$+) have high traffic. Most of them don't. You might have a high eCPM but it doesn't mean anything if you don't have any decent traffic.

I am not saying that people should stop using adsense or advertising but try to focus on other products they could sell on the side. What I would personally recommend is making one solid website, giving most of the content away for free and then having a premium user section where you put your really good content.

The OP does says right, but lots of publishers do not know much about creating a wealthy site on all parts to get more earnings other than PPC. Still there are lots of adsense publishers are trying to get the first check and they're very happy to get reach the minimum payout of $100 per month and I strongly believe that PPC is the easy way for newbies to earn money online without much skills.

Once if the newbies learns more and more, they have to concentrate on other revenues that pays much higher as well...

good information, thanks. but you cant calculate how much you earn on adsense. in the end. it is still up to the visitor whether they will click the ads or not..so there is no guarantee or prediction on how much a website earns..

My eCMP is slightly higher but not by much; the real problem is getting the volume of traffic needed to make decent money, which is what the OP is saying

Op, if you have good quality traffic, not nonsense traffic you got from dig or from spamming you will have much better click through rates.

It really depends on what the publisher is using, weather they put up image ads or text ads and also the quality of traffic and the most important of all is the niche.

You have to work very hard for $$$. Go hard and earn from adsense. My ecpm is $40-$60.
