I run an SEO business and every now and then I get this inquiry: "My site is not doing so bad on Alexa but I don't see it anywhere on Google." I also see a lot of threads and posts about this. I'm just going to simply put it: Alexa has nothing to do with Google. Said that, you tell me why Alexa ranking is of any importance? Sure it tells you somethings about a site but in the game of organic search engine traffic Alexa is not the big dog ... Google is. I always recommend worrying about ranking on first page for as many different keywords/phrases as possible rather than stressing over Alexa rankings. Now, Alexa is a great tool to use if you want to flip a site and make some money. Because, you can easily show how well your ranking is doing in a particular country and let people assume you're site is GOLD. Other than that, I don't see a huge benefit in worrying about Alexa. Cheers
Alexa is worthless and pointless. Some people try to trick people into thinking it means something so they can sell a site but it is absolutely worthless. Too easy to fake and not accurate at all. I don't understand why you say "they ain't the big dog, google is". They're not even a "dog", they're not a search engine... There is no comparison, they are not the same thing... I think you might be almost as confused as the confused people you're mentioning...
