I have recently started to write for Triond just for the last 3 weeks. I am not sure if I am a good writer but I would like to know. I want to know if I have some kind of future in writing and what other venues I can go into aside from Triond that is better paying or maybe more reputable. Can someone please critique my writings under 'Portfolio' at: http://www.triond.com/users/rgreenfield Any input is very much appreciated.
Try applying for Textbroker, Ecopywriters, Constant Content or some place like that where they require you to submit a piece of writing to be reviewed before they let you write for them. They will rate your work and you will get an idea of where you stand. I did read one of your articles and it was okay, but basically just one fact after another. If you can make the writing a little more fun to read this would be good, however....if you are looking to write for newspapers, etc. that form of journalistic writing would be good. If you want to write for the web you have to talk to people in a friendly way.
Your ideas and content are solid. You need to clean up some of you flow. A bit of punctuation and some grammatical massaging are the roads to taking it to the next level. A majority of College is learning to write. Taking classes at your local community college on campus or online. Learning to write is the biggest part of academia. If writing is your passion college is a great route to becoming a fantastic writer.
And finally the last one; if you are seeing yourself as an aspiring copywriter then also learn a bit of SEO.
Typical writer, talented enough that someone(s) is paying you good money because of your skill. Yet with all that you still are insecure and have doubts. Honestly this kind of self analysis and humility will keep you sharp and honed. You see writers only lose their edge when they become complacent and apathetic. I will have a look and see what you've written. If I have a critique I'll let you know. If you don't hear back from me then it's all good.
