I started doing CB today though I'm not new to Internet marketing. I promoting a high gravity product (a software) with adwords, I have some adwords vouchers to back me up. Hoping for good results. I will give updates on that. Any suggesstion from you experienced guys ??
I suggest medium to low gravity products which you can get low priced keywords for. Then make a presell page with those keywords. Watch the performance, optimize the presell page as you go, and weed out unproductive keywords. Very seldom will you make money buy direct linking popular products with PPC. Even if you do, it probably won't last long as you will be outbid. Everyone wants easy money, and you can be sure that popular products have a lot of PPC advertisers already.
i avoid the HG products like the plague...i for sure wont bid $2 on stuff like affiliate elite or rocket spanish
Try to pick some products with gravity under 20 or so as you will find less competition for that particular niche or market.
I will suggest that you perform some sort of Product Trend Analysis to check the product is in up trend or down trend before you promote it to avoid you are wasting your adword fund. You need to check the product by high Gravity, high Popularity and commission pay out (usually promote those products that have commission payout between 50% - 75%). There are some other area you may take into consideration like their Sales Page. If the product sales page is good and attractive, your have potentially make a sale. Hope it can help...
smstome is right about trend analysis. It is very useful. The website in my signature also provides trend analysis. I'd start with a product that has a steady gravity of 5..150. The key is gravity being steady. I'd stay away from skyrocketing products and the ones that are declining. Another thing to watch for is earned per sale chart. It should also be steady. It's ok for it to be lower than product price * commission because there will always be some returns. So long as it's not constantly declining (returns are becoming a disaster) it's OK.
You're making the same mistakes all newbies make: going for the top products. Start lower and look for untapped products until you build your experience. Forget about anything with a gravity over 50
Dont go for high gravity product... Personally i interpret gravity more like a Competition level than a Quality level. Ill give you an example. Would you prefer to promote a product: 200,000 people are likely to buy, with 2,000 affiliates in competition with you, 5,000 people are likely to buy, with 10 other affiliates in competition with you? Unless you believe your marketing skills are unusually high, you cant expect to beat the massive competition of top products. especially if you're a newbie and especially with PPC. Personally i had awesome results promoting a 1.50-2.00 gravity product. 2.00 means that i only have ONE other competitor, as i make at least 1 sale a day wich raise its gravity score by 1.... When i started i went and tried to sell that best-seller TV-on-satellite and had absolutly no results. when i switched to a 17 gravity product, woooooo i started making sales.
Exilus Really helpful advice, I will think about it. As other people, I was always advertising HG products, which wasn't easy, and the results were slow and not really profitable.
