    Hi everyone,
I just spent 10 hours non-stop watching the videos and playing with Market Samurai.
As I understand the basic concept: Find relevant keywords, drill down, filter to 80+ searches per day and competition <50,000, then flip over to SEO Competition and make sure there are no big players targeting that keyword.
However, I still have two questions that I can't figure out:

    1) When you follow the above procedure and get the relevant keywords, something is still missing. I think I've seen that "something" called KEI here on the forums... How do I single out the keywords that are worth pursuing from the filtered list? Do I need to calculate manually Searches * Searches / SEOC or something? Please reply if you've got this part figure out.

    2) MS obviously doesn't tell you which niches are profitable. They do mention in the video that if you pick a niche that's not profitable from the start, it's a waste of time. So how do you pick a niche in which to start looking for keywords? I've been told by an experienced IMer: stay away from Making Money Online or Forex, go for Sports, Health, Dating, Recreation. Does anyone have a more specific way to pick a niche? This question is assuming I don't have a niche "I enjoy or have an interest in", but purely looking for a profitable niche in general.
Sorry this ended up being so long, but I am worked up after having spent 10+ hours straight working on this.
    Thanks!

szwinz, thank you for that highly informative post :)
Hoping there's a chance a MS expert will come here and shed some light on my question

    Mark,

KEI(keyword effective index) is the method used by the Wordtracker tool to find the profitability or otherwise of a certain keyword phrase.

In the full paid for version of MS there are four major options available in the keyword research module.

    1) "Organic"....which gives number of searches daily etc

    2) "Adwords"....which gives you various data about an Adwords campaign obviously

    3) "Competition".....which as the name suggests gives you figures about numbers of competing sites(you have to use the SEO competition module to find the strength of competitors at the top of the listings)

    4) "Commerciality"......which I guess is the option you are looking for. Within the commerciality option you can find three things. The OCI which is a measure as a % probability that someone searching for the keyword is looking to buy rather than say for research. Then there is the AWV which is Adwords Value. This is the amount of money daily, that a no. 1 advertiser in Google Adwords could expect to get for the keyword phrase. Finally there is SEOV which is the value of the traffic that a no. 1 ranked site in Google for a keyword can expect. This value indicates the value of a keyword market.

    Hope this helps Mark,

    Andy
