Yes true, that's what we nomally do, but the vast majority of the email addresses are in their teens, late teens and early 20's. We wanted to take advantage of the boredom factor that set's in on Friday at work and college which is when the vast majority of viral emails are sent. The number of forwards that we've had compared to normal kind of bears this theory out.
I think that people who use gmail and other free email providers dont actually show the tracker image so you cannot effectivally track this very well. In gmail, if it asks to display an image, i dont bother because the information that i need is already expressed in words and hyperlinks. Do you get what i am on about or am i just confusing the situation more? Robert
I'm not sure exactly how it tracks views, though I have images turned off in my outlook settings and it mages to track my opens when I test emails. I might have a look into how it does it - good point
The only one I've worked with before is http://www.electricmarketing.co.uk, which only provides UK lists. I'm sure there is a US alternative, though most of our clients (and the ones that receive the best results) use thir own lists.
thanks for that. im very skeptical about this big online opt-in services that promises you can send about 70 million emails a month. i will try electric marketing though..i'll post some results once i have started the campaign.
I'd never advocate buying an opt-in list, I think it's possible to get good results with some, I'm all for building your own though, you'll see far better results.
