Means you got to have not one, two, or even three, but a bunch of candy jars. Full of the kinds of candy your grandkids love. Plus a freezer with ice cream always. Tons of snacks, drinks, etc. Always on hand! As one grandson and granddaughter noted when they first visited us.. We have hit the motherlode of candy! Plus be ready to let them watch what they want on tv. And as I have found out, always be ready to turn the computer over to them and help them out (one grandson and I have fun hunting down sites that have jokes, etc on them). And money....be prepared to help out. As in, granddaughter needs new prom dress....be there for her. Ah...the joys of being a grandparent for some reason beat the joys of being a parent. Or as my wife always says, you are too easy, you spoil too much, and you are a kid...thank god we never had kids together! Long story there.... Oh, one last thing....you gotta have a digital camera with you all the time! Then you can have tons and tons and tons of pictures on your computer to look at, print out (we personally support HP in the color cartridge business).
I took voluntary early retirement in March this year after 34 years in the same job. I plan to spend my new found freedom gardening and decorating. Congratulations and good luck to you and your wife on your travels.
Jim you sound like a very sincere man I like your style dood One must never take for granted the one they love
I sleep with a grandma! LOL Another good thing about retirement... CASINO!!!!!! Which is where wife and I are off to in a few minutes.... Because, why save it all for the kids when we can have fun? And what makes me feel good...and boy was I on a high for some time on this one. One of my wife's daughters called one day while she was gone and we talked for a few minutes. And she ended the call by saying " I love you DAD!"
