Just wanted to share with fellow DPers that this weekend marked my retirement from 40 years of working in four mini-careers — U.S. Air Force, Federal Aviation Administration (air traffic control), pastoring a couple of churches, and teaching in an Alaskan bible college. It has been a great run. Now I'm looking forward to spending more time with my wife of 34 years and seeing our grown children and grandson more often. But first a summer of camping and fishing in Alaska. Digital Point has been, and will continue to be, a great help to me in my amateur website endeavors. Thanks to all who have helped. I just bought a MacBookPro laptop, so that I can stay in touch with the forums even in our upcoming travels. Best wishes to all.
Congratulations on your retirement. I hope both you and your wife have a lovely time in Alaska. Take care and all the best. x
Congrats dude (is it ok to call a man of the cloth a "dude"?) on retirement and newfound freedom. You know what people would do for a Klondike bar in Alaska
Hahahahahaha. ''Wife of 34'' age or how long they've been married? If your theory is correct he married her when she was still in diapers?
Hi Jim, I took voluntery retirement before a year and half and I am happy. I wish you a happy retired life.
Congratulations on the retirement!! Actually, we had a Klondike bar here.. it burned down years ago. Was a nice place to get a drink though. Now the place of interest is the Dead Dog Saloon - known for the guy that used to prop his dead dog up by his barstool all one winter.
Thanks, all. I really appreciate the kind words. And yes, to clarify, that lovely lady (age 58) is my wife of 34 years.
Jim first, don't ever let her see that you told her age on a website that gets thousands of visitors per day... Second... Congrats on your retirement sir! I'll see you in the annual "I am retired and living well" meetings shortly P.S. Now you need to start a forum for retirees.
After a short while retired, you will kick yourself for NOT retiring earlier! Why I retired first chance I got from USPS. And I have enjoyed each day of my retirement, now going on 1 1/2 years. And yep, enjoying the grandkids (10 of them). Enjoy your retirement.....
Oops! No, seriously, my wife is aging very gracefully and is happy to be a "middle-aged" wife, Mom, and Grandma. I love her with all my heart.
Thanks, Iowa. I'm a brand-new, first-time Grandpa, as of 3 months ago. The precious little guy was at our house with his Mom and his Dad (my son) this weekend for our retirement dinner. I had a bad cold, and it was breaking my heart not to be able to hold him, lest I spread my cold to him. To all you grandparents out there, I'm just beginning to learn why you are all so proud of those little ones. There's nothing like having grandchildren.
