    :( Just received this

Your forum's database was disabled due to a load issue traffic on the website was
    causing.

If the website's traffic is expected to return to normal soon, let us know, and
    we'll re-enable the database accordingly.

    Thanks for choosing HostGator!

    -Server Stability Team

    -------------------------------

Is traffic the same as badwidth, if so, I have never passed the 80GB bandwidth limit. :(

    Know any good hosting?

No, it means you were taking up too much of the proccessing power on the server. If you are running a forum or something else that is really database intensive you may want to think about moving to a dedicated server.

What kind of forum is it? I know recently there was an aql caching mod written by CyberAlien (xtreme styles mod creator). That would help. Also, maybe you could ask your host to install upgrade to mysql 4.1+ and enable sql caching. That'll take a big load off the server if your forum is high traffic.

If I switch software, phpbb to vbulletin, I think it might take some traffic off...hmmm, dedicated servers cost a lot

I agree with the comment about SQL caching. See if you can get your forum optimized and maybe talk to hostgator about other options to increase performance.

Thank you all :) I bought a semi dedicated, turns out that my ex server was hosting 660 websites, now I'm practically alone with 10 other little websites. I spoke personally to the owner, who is friend of a friend of mine, and got everything sorted out, no problems for me :)

It is SO cool that they have Live Support any time - you get help from their stff instantly - and they are very kind.

I have just been helped by Andre, a very calm HostGator staff member - actually it was pretty stupid of me to do what I did (had a login email @ a domain hosted by them, and when they suspended my account for not paying - it happens - I couldn't retrieve my password anymore_ - he helped me with that.
