I went to Dns config. and created a new zone called sggdc.com which is a master account and the only domain i want on the server. Im not sure if that is how i make that my website domain or what, but once i created that, something comes up that says primary name server which is: ns1.sggdc.com.

I have no idea what i am suppose to be doing to point my yahoo domain to my godaddy server.

creating a name server from the server alone won't make it a valid nameserver, you also have to register the newly created nameservers at the registrar.

i really think you should really be in touch with godaddy for further info about your new server, or hire someone with knowledge in the area.

    First go to

    1. http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com, login to your account and you will be redirected to "My Services" page.
    2. Click on the "Domain Control Panel" on the domain you wish to point to godaddy server.
    3. One your in the "Doman Control Panel" page, click on "Manage Advanced DNS Settings".
    4. You will find "Name Servers" below the page, click "Change Name Server" button, you will find the first and second boxes to have a defalt nameserver, this is the field that you need to change.

    ###Proceed to Step 5 First #####
    5. Login to your godaddy account, once you have login, on the top menu hover your mouse over "Hosting and Server" and then click "My Hosting Account" , under the Hosting Account column click the domain that you want to point. After clicking it you will find the DNS on the right side. This is the info you need to paste in your control panel at Yahoo.

    6. Go back to Step 3 and paste the DNS servers and then click "Save Changes".

** Godaddy common nameservers are NS5.SECURESERVER.NET, NS6.SECURESERVER.NET , it uses the secureserver.net domain.

**Note on Step 5, you might not have setup your hosting account, press "Setup" to continue and follow the instruction agreement and enter your information or password that they may require.

Best of luck to you, btw im not a yahoo or godaddy affiliate. Just hope this tutorial will help you. :D

I forgot to mention that it takes 24-48 for the DNS propagation to complete. It might not take effect immediately in your location. :)

nope, even though its a dedicated box it still has an IP address. try to point to this IP address in your nameserver settings in yahoo.
