Just picked up five PR5 backlinks for free

Since Link Vault is having problems, I checked out BannerShift (Referral Link). Not a lot of sites in the program right now, but a great concept nonetheless.

Once you register, you can search for pages where you want your links to be displayed. I registered, got the code on my sites, and searched their database of sites available for link placement. Once I'd found out which sites were available to place links on, I used the SEO Chat PageRank Search Tool to figure out which pages on those sites had the best PR.

Naturally, I placed links on those pages. Hope this helps.

    NikkiBlue,

Yeah, I did the same thing too when I first visited the site and asked myself the same question.

Did you see this message after you did a search?

"Result set produced by this search is not using BannerShift members sites but the results returned from the Google. We do not want to disclosure our member's websites publicly. It is just an example how easily you can acquire content related links using BannerShift Link Exchange Network."

Apparently, you have to register before they'll allow you to see the sites in the network. Honestly, it's a considerably smaller pool of sites than the DP Coop. But the DP Coop was small at one time also.:)

I like it because you get to pick where your links go versus having them assigned.

    Just my opinion.

Me too. I heard about it a while ago, but with link vault down, might as well try this.

I see bannershift allows co-existance with link vault, all the more reason to try it!

Yeah, go figure. If they don't let UN inspectors in, something definitely is up with it.

I mean, if they don't let you view the webpages you're going to buy links for....

Well, they do let you select from categories so you can refuse to list certain types of sites (adult, gambling, etc)

    LV should be up tomorrow.

Hopefully they will be better than ever at their new host. It was the hurricanes which destroyed their datacenter and have forced the moved.

Another hint for people that want to control links placed at their sites.

Log in to your account. Click on your site name in the left menu.
Look for "Show Links placed at this site".
You will get a list of pages on your site that were used to place links.

You can remove specific link placed on one of your site pages by clicking
    on "Remove this link".

I signed up to banner shift around midnight last night and got approved around 3:00am this morning. I have it running on the bottom of http://www.scootnet.com on the bottom just above the adsense. Nothing there yet. Will see what happens over the next couple of days.

The bannershift home page says a PR8 link will be automatically included. Will see.

Interesting that http://forums.bannershift.com has no activity for over a month. Also from a quick search for bannershift, it looks like the site was ignored for a long time during the summer/fall, no approvals, no activity.

You're not missing anything. Not a lot of selection right now. Hopefully, that'll change as more sites are added.

Has anyone signed up to this site (bannershift)? And did it really work? It's not very convincing to me

I was thinking where I have left a note about that pr 8 backlink ;)
It is a site of my friend.
He got this pagerank due to some black hat SEO methods.

Some people discourage me to use it, because it makes the network to look
black hat. This was not my original intension. I just wanted to give users
    another bonus.

I am going to dump the index page and use a static one instead of dynamic.

If you are interested, your links are displayed at the following url:

I do not have access to server logs right now, but I suppose it is
somewhere from 30 to 40 sites that actually show links.

One of the biggest problems is site integration. Most of the users
are unable to pass this stage.

Any ideas about improving the site integration ratio are highly appreciated.

I actually like your system very much and will now try it with some sites now. Most things seem to work very well, here are some tips however:

    - The Integration for static html sites didn't work for me. I had to use the php version instead (although my pages are static html)
    - You shouldn't display this message on unapproved sites, could annoy some people: "Your site is not verified for placing links in BannerShift Link Exchange Network. Please contact our support team."
    - You should also make available a full list of the sites you can place your links on... the keyword search can be a little ineffective, especially as there are not that many sites yet.
    - You should write some sort of FAQ or short explanation of the features. I was at first quite confused where to do what on the site...

I hope you can spread the word a little more. Keep up the good work.

One problem is what you say and offer on the opening pages is not what is found once you are in the site.

Like the "relevent links" box before you sign in. It doesn't exist once you are in the system.

In the faq: "And other 2 (links) will be provided by BannerShift Network or it's partners. " Get rid of that feature!

You have a forum but no link to it.
