I just paid $360 yesterday for press release distribution at PRWeb.com for my site: http://www.pimpmywalk.com

It's my first time trying PRWeb.com and press release distribution in general.

    Link to press release: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2007/11/prweb566698.htm

I think it just went up a few minutes ago, so far, here are the stats:

    Release was Read 115 97.5%
    PDF Download 2 1.7%
    Printer Friendly Version 1 0.8%
    Total 118 100%

I'll keep updating from time to time to tell you how it goes. So yeah, if you're considering getting press release distribution at PRWeb.com, keep your eye on this thread and I'll let you know how it goes.

Also, if I get any calls or emails from the press (news people, journalists, etc.) I'll post here. :)

Not to bash, but the release is poorly constructed and not in AP style. Whatever your milage, it could have been many times greater (or at least hit better sources) if done properly.

Good luck. I hope you get some bang out of it.

    @Domino: Try PRLeap.com

You can also google: Paid Press Releases

There's a few more, however the most popular are going to be either PRWeb or PRLeap.

One thing, your layout is not really at the required level.. "not good usability".
You need to concentrate on a better layout..

    Keep going!

I was going to mention something similar. The headline on this would do nothing at all for a journalist, and even from an SEO perspective isn't optimized very well. The first paragraph should be attacking the questions of who, what, when, where, and why, and instead you start off like a generic article. I didn't even read far past that because of it. It's not going to appeal to most journalists, if any. You may get some pretty niche blog coverage, but I wouldn't have done the media visibility package for this particular release with how it was written.

Also keep in mind that PRweb's stats mean next to nothing. Their "reads" aren't anything to get excited about. Calling them "reads" are incredibly misleading at that... just because someone clicks on the link, it doesn't mean they've read more than the headline (the reality is that most won't get past your first paragraph, especially when it's not giving them the information they need by then).

Definitely post if you get any significant coverage though. I'd be interested to see what types of outlets pick it up. Good luck with it.

I have to agree with jhmattern about the beginning of your press release. It should be more informative about EVENT. And also think, that you could get the same effect using 200$ "SEO visibility plan" (except video and associated press) Here is comparison of available plans http://www.prweb.com/service_features.php .
Anyway it's very interesting experience and good luck to you! Waiting to get more info about your success :)
