Yes, do follow links will definitely help your SERP results. I'm not sure about the no follow links effect on SERP. But traffic is assured inspite of the users of that site.

NO Follow - sites can't help to get ranking in SERPS but it can increase your traffic but not targeted.
Do Follow - You can get back link and promote your site in SERPS.

It's short definition of these tow type of sites.. for more information read here

There is no such Do follow and No follow, if you really like the blog or the social bookmarking or networking site then you can get that genuine comment and the owner will definitely post it up if you are genuine with your comments.

The truth is - nobody knows. Google is counting nofollow links for something, that's obvious because they appear in Webmaster Tools. However, they won't pass PageRank - and as they're not being followed they should only have as much value as a mention. (but mentions aren't included in Webmaster Tools, which suggests they have more weight than that.)

Nofollow tags help us to prevent the passing of page rank through a particular link. Its not worthless at all. Nofollow links can drive traffic to your sites.

Getting no-follow links certainly helps you. It will not help you in term of PR, i don;t bother much about it, but you will get some traffic if you post some comment which is real good.

If you think your blog post or website post has some enhanced version of what is being taught in that post, then it is great to leave that particular link without any anchor text in the comment section and see the traffic flowing in.

Honestly, traffic is very much better than having PR.
