Just launched a forum last week, already have 145 members and 1800 posts, which I am happy about. Everytime I look there is always an avg of 10-15 people online. Anyway, currently I have no ads on there, but eventually if it keeps growing I would like to do this somehow. Google Ads would look kind of bad and the members would be suddenly wondering what it is? What should I do?
I wouldn't worry too much about members "wondering" what the ads are. Ads are basically second nature when browsing the web. To me, they are ugly, but if placed well in convenient places, you are sure to merit some extra cash flow while still continue to grow a happy community.
you can try to blend them into the site so that they aren't too ugly. or you can try some other ad networks
The members are mainly women and they aren't too prone to changes. I think picture ads would be fine...(banners)
Find an affiliate product that will compliment your forum. Create your own banners that look good with your forum color scheme and layout and have them link to the product.
Wow first of all congrats! It took me more than a year to get my forum that far.. what's your secret? Anyways, I don't think people would mind the ads. You could also explain why you added them as long as it isn't too obvious that people should click them (Google terms).
