RAM doesn't mean his computer will run all that fast. It simply means his computer can store more memory/data temporarily at once. Not faster. No wonder people complain about having slow computers on Vista with their amazing zillions of RAM. System bus. . . processor speed in GHz. . . OS 32 bit or 64 bit. . . THAT is what matters. Who the hell here actually uses more than 1.5 gigs of ram? EVER?
12 gigs will only be a big advantage if your other components are powerful. A 1.5 Ghz processor with 12 gigs of RAM is like a 3 door car with 12 wheels.
What about a quad core Opteron X2 (two quad core CPUs) with DDR2 800 ram at 16GB, Dual Nvidia GeForce SLI cards, and a nice hard drive? I bet you could play Tetris on it.
What about a good AMD setup, what would be the best specs for it? I am begging my fiance to buy a new PC for me
