want to have it slower? :O vista is for loozers then you rather take xp with 12gb ram and vista theme <3
In my expereince, hard disk speed matters most isntead of ram, so i would rather invest in having a seperate superfast SSD hard disk for OS only apps on a different harddisk. that's how i get 32 seconds xp boot time on pentium 3! wiht 384 MB ram, also turn off unneeded services ( there are just 4-6 services required)
what kind of motherboard are you using? and what kind of cooling system are you running, assuming that you have i7 quad core processors... please post your CPU-Z screenshots... otherwise your just dreaming....
12 gigs of RAM ? ***************** 1. What processor AMD, Intel 2. Video card 3.Hd cash ? 4. You use XP for what kind of applications - graphics, video, or just for test fun
I have one on WinXP 64Bit Windows Vista 64bit Windows 7 Windows 2008 Server Windows 2003 64 Bit 1 system on Solid State Drive - I think I'll put Windows Vista 64 on that one I'll have test results soon. Here's what I bought and Paid.. This is about a Month old. Patriot Warp 32GB Solid State Hard Drive - SATA-300, 2.5" (P33-6022) MPN: PE32GS25SSDR 1 $84.99 $84.99 Sony DRU-V200S/BR DVD Rewritable Drive SATA - 20x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD+R DL, 12x DVD-R DL, 12x DVD-RAM, 16x DVD-ROM, 48x CD-R, 32x CD-RW, 48x CD-ROM Black (S167-4520) MPN: DRUV200S/BR 6 $39.99 $239.94 XFX GeForce 9800 GTX + Video Card - 512MB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, VGA Support (P450-9824) MPN: PVT98WYDFH 5 $154.99 $774.95 XFX Radeon HD 4870 XXX Edition Video Card - 1024MB GDDR5, PCI Express 2.0 x16, CrossFireX Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV (P450-4870) MPN: HD487AZDDC 1 $264.99 $264.99 ASUS P6T Intel Socket LGA1366 Barebone Kit - Intel Core i7 920, 12GB Corsair DDR3-1333, 1TB SATA2, Clear Side ATX Mid-Tower, 650W (B69-1019) MPN: 6 $999.99 $5,999.94
Nice system. Even with 12gigs you're still bound by the speed of the hard drive. Until everything loads into memory you're still waiting on the hd. I wouldn't mind having a solid state hd.
What?? Do u use these systems or do you sell these things off? 12 Gigs of RAM is entirely unnecessary for any system running on our current OSes and XP, for sure, never uses more than 1 GB even if you flush out entire OS into the RAM and work. We would definitely love to have a look at these monster machines. Take some time and do post their pics.
I'm gonna use the computers to play games with my little nephews and nieces. We haven't decided which games yet..but we'll probably play Worms Armegeddon. It'll be written off as office expense. re:SgBoise: I did buy one Solid State drive but it didn't have a casing so I had to wait for that to arrive. It's here now so I'm getting ready to load an OS on it. I'll do testing once they are all up and running.
I recommend everyone to read the following article on tomshardware: Do You Really Need More Than 6 GB Of RAM?
i'd rather spend money on ssd, with all those performance, its all useless unless you have a fast hd (not talking bout raptor hd's)
