The guy who sold you a radeon 9550 for $250 in this day and age must be a marketing god!! i dumped my old 9800 in the trash can a couple of days back since it wasnt getting me even $50.
January 28th I believe. How did you get Windows Vista Ultimate when MSDN subscribers only received Business?
Do you actually have any evidence to support that claim? My MSDN subscription allowed me to download Vista Ultimate. You can go check it up yourself. It's a legit copy.
I went back to XP too. Vista is way too naggy, even when used with an administrator-class account. Besides the annoying permission dialogs, my games ran slower in Vista. I guess I could blame the drivers, but they run slower nonetheless. Some games I installed didn't get registered into the Games menu either.
The people complaining about Vista being bloated are simply put, idiots. Vista runs faster then XP has ever ran. Stop giving your self stupid reasons to bash MS. Am I a Microsoft supporter, yes I am. I believe in using what gets the job done best. I use FreeBSD on all of my servers, but Windows for all of my desktop and laptops. It's just the best tool for the job. If you don't like Microsoft, don't use their products. Vista is a good product. Does it need a powerful system to run? yes it does, if you don't have a new system with a fast processor and lots of ram, don't run it and don't complain.
Do you have proof that Vista is faster than XP ever was? Also, how come computers that run XP fine are apparently unfit to run Vista, according to Microsoft themselves? I'll admit I use Windows products, but you sound like some raving fanboy.
Im not a fan boy. Im just sick of hearing bullshit from people who read a few blog posts online and think they know enough to bash Vista. You're going to have to switch someday. It's a new product. Eventually everyone will be using it. All new computers will have Vista, most businesses will switch to the sever equivalent of Vista as well. It's a new platform, it will adapt. The same mentality is always present in a group of individuals when new products are realesed. That new car sucks, the old version was better. That computer sucks the old one was better. bla bla, get over it. Technology moves forward. How do I know Vista is faster? Well, I ran Media Center 2005 on my laptop for a while and recently switched to Vista ultimate. It boots a lot faster then XP, much faster, and it's also less buggy in normal use. No freezing IE7, Outlook, or other apps that normally froze for me in XP. Also, the bloating comments are irrelevent. Vista is bigger then XP, but the hardware it was ment to run on is much powerful and advanced then what XP was ment to be run on. Vista is engineered to run on dual/quad core cpu's with lots of ram and powerful graphics cards. Don't expect your 6 year old comp that ran XP smooth to run Vista smooth. You're going to need a fast fairly recently computer. By fairly recent, I mean pentium-d or better.
I'm running an AMD Opteron 165 (Dual Core) overclocked from 1.8GHz to 2.7GHz which is faster than an AMD FX60 and puts up benchmark numbers up there with the Core 2 Duo processors. Even on this machine Windows Vista performs many task slower than XP on my computer. How is this an upgrade? Because it has eye candy that I've had on XP for the last 3 years with WindowBlinds? Hardly. Is it the UAC prompt that annoys the hell out of me anytime I try and actually do something with my files? I think not. So where the hell is the so called improvement and why should I give Microsoft a couple hundred dollars more of my money for nothing? Oh wait, how about for the built in DRM that will prevent me from viewing High Definition video on my current monitor because it's not approved. Yeah, that's why I should upgrade. Forgot about that. Oh, and I know enough about Vista to bash on it because I am typing this message in Vista itself.
So the only reason "vista runs way faster than XP" is because you need much newer, faster computers to use it at all. I see
Yeah thats the only thing you need a faster computer. Thats all vista is man, you guessed, kudos! NOT The eye candy is worth it to me, sorry if it's not to you. People said the exact same thing when XP came out. If I remember correctly people called XP "the fisher price look" and basically said it was Win2K with eye candy... As for me, Vista runs much quicker then XP. Both in normal usage and usage with different applications.
I got a red rep and a note If FerrariSlave (slave?? ) has enough experience, tell me how I'm an idiot...LOL. Man, I have been with PCs since early schooldays and seeing OSs closely, assembling, software developing and offering maintenance services to people...So, according to my experience, vista is hell of bloatware. Also, how do you know we don't have vista in India? Are you a crystall-ball gazer? And like you western guys, we dont have good money or reason to buy PCs every 3 months and trash it, adding to the problem of e-waste disposal. You guys dump gadgets often and instead of disposing them off in your own country, you guys send them to developing countries like India : "Let those niggers suffer of pollution...what to us?" Dumb opportunity-seekers! Upgrading is required, but only when it's sensible. Similarly, it's not at all rational to unnecessarily bloat a piece of software for the sole reason that you have got more resources to spare...!
Learn how to speak english a bit better before you try to attack somone personally. And for your information I just got a new laptop. This has been the first new piece of computer hardware for me since May 2003 when I built my AMD barton system. I am a green peace supporter and I do not support useless waste or world pollution. I am a minimalistic person and never use more then I need to, but I do upgrade to the latest technologies avaliable to me for many obvious reasons. I'm sorry that you cannot afford to upgrade... But let me guess you've been running vista for a while, took part in it's development, have a new core 2 duo computer with 2gb of ram. Oh and you offer tech support for MS products, right? Please... back your statements up with more then boasting about how long you've been using computers. Im not saying Vista is the ruler of all, but I believe it's a big step over XP in terms of looks, performance with new hardware, and platform development (.net framework, xaml, wpf, etc...). To hear it getting called bloatware is annoying.
