So it's been ~ a month since I installed it; thought I'd give a little update. 1) Yahoo & Google both have less pages. However I've been getting MUCH MUCH more traffic from google to my forum than ever before, for all sorts of random terms you'd never imagine targetting. Crazy really. 2) MSN has increased from ~700 to 1000+ which is cool but still getting almost 0 traffic from MSN. (That's nothing new). The forum users have been increasing steadily but as we all know as 60 day loop comes you loose your banned users etc etc so it's been losing and recently spiked back up. Threads: 432, Posts: 1,541, Members: 321, Active Members: 242 Things are looking up and actually just last 48 hours has been kinda nuts lots of new joins. Mind you I have been doing some promotion but the majority are coming through the search engines. Good news for sure. I'll post a similar summary in about a month.
Congrats. I've been using vbseo and have the cash to renew my board, hosting, and the vbseo license. I, too, get organic traffic from the most obscure keywords that I could ever imagine. It's pretty funny, amazing, and satisfying. A bulk of the traffic is from Google, but eventually, you will get a lot of other search engines powered by Google. Good luck and welcome to the "team!"
hahaha thanks, and when we say weird keywords.... WE MEAN IT! Once the forum gets bigger I'll add other topics too. Just don't want too many open area's try and make it look happening in the beginning. On another note: Also has anyone made their htaccess to redirect the http version to www version. As well as Bloggeries.com/forum/index.php to just Bloggeries.com/forum These are seen as different pages by Search Engines and can be classed as dup, plus your main URL is Canonized, meaning PR is split between the different versions. You want the PR all pouring in to the one version. Yes, First thing after Re-write Engine on add: Quote: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^bloggeries\.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.bloggeries.com/forum/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteRule ^index.php$ http://www.bloggeries.com/forum/ [R=301,L] I received that message and added it and my forum wouldn't come up. Anyone else handling this? Maybe jWard can chime in
I have also got VBseo installed after reading this thread in my new Gii Forums and the threads are getting ranked in se's within 24 hours Recommended to everyone!
Added. RewriteRule ^index.php$ http://www.bloggeries.com/forum/ [R=301,L] To last line of .htaccess. Worked. If anyone has any ideas on the question I posteda above please share. Either way glad I have this.
I just installed it on www.mkpitstop.co.uk/forum about 7 days ago and believe me I am getting better traffic allready, this could have been with the amount of pages that were indexed in google allready, but this has increases and the traffic is just going up daily I am well pleased so fare
wow your site is really beautiful. i wanted to know how you did title description in each forum and placed some images. that looks so nice. any mod?

sure i will register their for this. coz i also wanted to make header for each section like this. you can see my forum at my signature.
Never recommended for a high active site running on a shared server. If you insist, make sure you are ready to avail of a VPS or dedicated server later. Otherwise if you choose to disable it on a later time, the number of your google indexed pages will surely drop tremendously.
Based on our 1 month experience, vbseo.php script takes 40+ server load which caused service outages on our account. Most shared server webhost wont allow that to happen and will disable your script. Your choice then is to disable your vbseo plugin completely or get a VPS/DS. Since we cant afford a VPS/DS right now, we are forced to disable vbseo. URLs are back to normal and google indexed pages and number of visitors are starting to drop. We shouldnt use vbseo if we only knew that thing is going to happen. We are now disposing our vbseo which we only bought last month (June 2007).
I installed it yesterday at my fairy large board (on VPS) and currently there are no load issues. My experience of the script has been excellent and the support vbseo guys provide at their forums is indeed awesome. You can save resources by tweaking a few settings and by disabling rewrites that're not required (for printthread, avatars, cat tree).
60 Days in! Yahoo - 1638 Started @ 842. Google - 1070 Started @ 1080 MSN - 623 Started @ 739 So google about the same; MSN slightly down and Yahoo doubled. Not bad but this is just 60 days let's see what happens @ 90!!!
You can tell google to do that from webmaster central. I'll have to agree that page indexing is fairly quick (within a day) for new threads. Google/Yahoo have indexed the htmlized forum and member pages so far. I'd have to be patient as far as reindexing of html pages is concerned because my forums already have 60K+ pages indexed at SEs. Anyone using vbseo sitemaps in conjunction with vbseo?
Best example yet I think... I've been watching that thread with interest and will likely continue to do so. If your numbers actually take an upswing I hope you'll let us know
Absolutely. I update the thread every month. Hell, I would love for it to work as advertised. I too would like to double my income.
