I don't think there are better ways to spend $150 if you're a forum owner than vBSEO.

like another license, and mods on vb.org and donations to those who help.

You can even advertise with that money.

To me, its not worthy when I run a forum thats non-profit and just for the heck of things...

I'll be very interested in this to see what happens. I have a great PR5 forum it is not very active but I have a few actives. I am also ranked #1 on MSN and anywhere from 1st to 3rd page on google (wacky google) for my main keyword phrase.

As a non-profit, don't you still want visitors?

I agree... I've made a PR5 forum browie.com without it. I still need more visitors and more USERS :( I need more users. I'm still not buying it until i'm for sure it's useful.

    Browie,

vbseo is so useful that I am being paid by Adsense on a steady basis and I'm marketing a forum for which the market is beyond saturated. I'm listing in the first page for even a remote word combination related to my area of expertize (Webmaster of sorts) and I truly believe I could not have done this without vbseo.

Here is a tip to get immediate traffic:

Write a few articles about askjeeves.com as this has been pulling consistent organic traffic like crazy to my forum.

This tip courtesy of vbseo and me, your friendly neighborhood webmaster/investor/coder.

Also, I tweaked it my board a bit to have the same url format as vbseo.com as this seems like a logical url format to have. You should try it.

Also note that vbseo has a referral affiliate program where you can earn commission from pimping vbseo. Another avenue of monetization that awaits you.

You also get access to vbseo.com forum, which is full of useful tips and tricks to truly drop an SEO bomb on your board.

    Cheers.

Oh yeah, one last thing, I don't think vbseo is necessarily about PR, it's more about search engine optimization. PR is a latent function of vbseo, but it's main purposes appears to be to take your forum to the top of major search engines with the hopes of getting you organic traffic that converts.

    Cheers.

Thanks for the information. Maybe when I start getting more cash from my sites I'll think about it. I'm kind of up in the air. Updating my vB or getting vbSEO

What makes it ugly? You can set up the urls however you like. You don't have to use keywords in them.

Same here I've been considering it since its easier to install one hack than 50 but the price and yearly price for support is too much right now.

If you are scared of the price, try zoints or vrewrite in the meantime :)

If you plan to get vBSEO, do not install another product beforehand.

If so, you will have to re-do your 301 redirects, or you'll be stuck with the limited, non-configurable URL options you started with.

Yes, of course its good to keep things in perspective. I, too, have built forums without vbSEO and compete on an equal footing with those who have thrown a lot more money at the task. With a little time, research and know how you can SEO your forum just as well, if not a little better to suit your circumstances.

I wouldnt even install any of them other free ones, I tried once and there full of bug's.

The only reason I would go fo vbseo is cos its paid and they have to help you out, but the price is a little of a joke really I sorry to say.

@madkad if you check out my new forum @ http://www.gii.in/forums/ which is just 6 days old , its heavily indexed but iam going to vbseo is seeing the future upgrades and more seo friendly URL's
When we pay them we do expect great service in return rather than the zoints (free) version which wont be upgraded since its sold now i guess.
