This guy probably jumped to conclusions about getting scammed and now everything's fine. Why else would he avoid coming back with more details.
You must have a bad rep with them or something... because I've been ripped 3 times now and they've ALWAYS came up with an excuse (virtual goods are NOT covered under their protection, neither are services). If it's not "I paid via eBay and my item arrived damaged or seller never shipped", then they don't want to hear it.
I bought a product from a seller who I was exchanging emails with from a forum post I made requesting to buy this certain type of product. (Sorry I am not going to disclose what product it is...yet) So we email and discuss and then I contact him on MSN which is the same as his email address. He said to pay him before he gives me the product, which is obvious in most cases. I paid him by PayPal for $110 and 5 minutes later he signed off and I immediately he knew he was a scammer and right then I filed a complaint with PayPal! I also called them! The person never signed back on MSN or emailed me back, and when I called they say that they can't make this fraud a priority even though it was 5 minutes ago! So for all I know is that my complaint within 5 minutes wasn't in time and he sent the money to another account by now. No matter what, I am out $110!!! The name of the guy is Duane Wilson with an email address of I could seriously cry.
paypal sucks, just get used to it. I lost lots of money cause of chargebacks too. Everyone loses some, it's inavitable, so just be prepared and build on it..
I used to sell virtual items (game goods) via forums and ebay, accepting paypal as payment. I really hated using paypal (though I love it TO PAY- so quick) because charge backs were so easy for customers. You'll probably get your money back. It isn't instant- they do an investigation. It will probably take a couple of days.
*sigh* You guys gotta' help me get money back...my brother's birthday is soon and that was the money right there. I can do work if you need anything done just please PM me! I will give good rates.
Not to defend Duane Wilson or anything, but how can you immediately classify him as a scammer just because he signed out 5 minutes after payment was received. You never know, they might have problems with their internet connection or electricity. Why not give him some time?
Go HERE: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=60 You will certainly get plenty of buyers if your offers are good.
No. This was a scammer. I had doubt at first if he even had the product he was trying to sell...I knew he wasn't legit right after he sent payment and says received payment, then 5 minutes later signed off. And this thread was not made to help me...I am just pretty mad and sad that the money was supposed to go towards his gift, and I got scammed out for it.
If the buyer notes the payment as 'Goods - Other' and supplies an address to the seller, then Paypal note it as tangible goods so the buyer can easily compile a complaint process and get the money back (in most cases, with no problems). Also, don't feel bad about the $110, I've been scammed out of many thousands, most of the time I've got it back, one guy I managed to get everything from his complete address/phone number, to how much he pays for his petrol and where his girlfriend works (thanks Google). When you do business you always run a small risk for this stuff, especially on the internet.
I never got the item and never will. And this isn't the first time...this is like the 10th time I've been scammed through PayPal and NONE of them have had any successes in getting my money back. This is one of the smaller amounts I have gotten scammed through with PayPal. -.-
