I was visiting your site and feel my heart is so dry. You should have a logo and give small enhancement to your list of the latest post on sidebar. May be you can give a line space to your <li> or an icon on there.
Change Logo Change Favicon Icon The design is the first person people see, if it doesn't look profressional they won't trust your site. I wouldn't advertise on your site, I don't others will either for now. Keep at it but, can't fail if you never give up.
Looks good except I would add a picture of yourself somewhere on the right hand side of the blog (makes it feel more personal). $25/year is pretty cheap advertising anywhere you go. I would if I was targeting real estate.
